Quick Links to Major Tiger Reserves

Located in the historic land of Rajasthan, Ranthambhore is one of the prime destinations for a tiger safari in India. Besides the thrilling encounters with the Royal Bengal Tigers, the reserve is home to ancient ruins and the majestic Ranthambhore Fort. With its deciduous forests and diverse wildlife including leopards, hyenas, and sloth bears, Ranthambhore offers a rich tapestry of nature and history.

Bandhavgarh is a treasure trove for wildlife enthusiasts. With one of the highest densities of Bengal tigers in the world, a tiger safari in Bandhavgarh often results in spectacular sightings. The reserve’s landscape, dotted with grasslands and Sal trees, along with ancient caves and sculptures, offers a blend of natural beauty and archeological richness.

Kanha is renowned for its successful conservation efforts, especially for the swamp deer or Barasingha. The lush Sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows, and ravines provide a perfect setting for a tiger safari. Kanha also harbors a significant population of leopards, wild dogs, and Indian bison.

Although world-famous for hosting two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses, Kaziranga is also a fabulous location for a tiger safari. Nestled on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, the reserve’s vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical broadleaf forests creates a rich breeding ground for tigers and numerous other species.

Straddling the southern border of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Pench is an enthralling location for a tiger safari. The picturesque landscape with the Pench River flowing through the tropical forests and grasslands is home to tigers, leopards, and over 280 species of birds, making it a haven for nature lovers.

Nagarahole, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a lush wilderness set in the Western Ghats. A tiger safari in Nagarahole offers not only sightings of tigers but also elephants, Indian bison, and a variety of bird species. Its verdant forests, gentle slopes, and shallow valleys provide a tranquil atmosphere for wildlife spotting.

Satpura stands out for offering a serene and less crowded wildlife experience. A tiger safari in Satpura is unique, as tourists can explore not only through jeeps but also on foot or boats. The reserve’s rugged terrain with sandstone peaks, narrow gorges, and dense forests is home to tigers, leopards, and sloth bears.

Set amidst the picturesque Western Ghats, Bandipur is an excellent location for tiger safaris in India. Its dry deciduous forests and open grassy woodlands house a sizeable tiger population. Additionally, the reserve is a vital corridor for elephants migrating between the Western and Eastern Ghats.

Established in 1936, Corbett holds the distinction of being India’s first national park. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, a tiger safari in Corbett offers a captivating experience with its rich biodiversity, dense forests, grasslands, and meandering rivers.

As part of the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve, Bori Wildlife Sanctuary is an off-the-beaten-track destination for a tiger safari in India. The sanctuary’s varied terrain of dense forests, grasslands, and river valleys provide a refuge for tigers, as well as a rich diversity of other wildlife.

Though situated in Nepal, Chitwan National Park is globally renowned for its tiger conservation efforts. A tiger safari in Chitwan takes you through its lush subtropical forests, providing opportunities to spot not only tigers but also rhinos, elephants, and a plethora of bird species.

Nestled in the pristine wilderness of Bhutan, Royal Manas National Park is more off-the-beaten-path for tiger enthusiasts. While the park is home to Bengal tigers, sightings can be rare due to the dense and rugged terrain. However, a safari in Royal Manas offers an incredible experience with its rich biodiversity including clouded leopards, elephants, and golden langurs. The park’s remote location not only offers an intimate connection with nature but also provides insight into Bhutan’s remarkable conservation efforts.
